As we work towards becoming a smart city, the City of Windhoek use the following guiding principles:
·Visionary city, a vision for our city’s future which is clear, compelling and jointly owned by all stakeholders, spaces and services are built around the citizens’ needs and the transformation is done with the citizens and businesses and not to them.
·Citizen-centric city detailed and segmental understanding of our citizens’ and businesses’ needs. The transformation is done with the citizens and businesses and not to them.
·Digital city enables the ubiquitous digitization of our city with connectivity and integration between people, places and things across the city. Ensuring the inclusive digitization of our city with no stakeholder group left behind (the Namibian House).
The open and collaborative city, creating spaces and opportunities for new collaboration in opening the city’s data to drive innovation and create new value. Also building city systems that are flexible and adaptable. Encourage sharing and reuse of city assets and services.
WBIP is a Community Collaboration platform which supports a number of purposes.
